Acts of Sedition & Sadville - Split 7"

This is the first in an ongoing series of split releases on Inkblot Records, between Acts of Sedition from Oakland, CA and Sadville from Tennessee. I've actually noticed with these split series 7"s that the first band tends to start off strong while the second sort of trails off..as was the case with the Protestant/Northless installment that I had thrown up ways back. That being said, the Acts of Sedition side I enjoy a lot as they rip through 2 tracks of crusty, politically charged hardcore punk with blistering vocals and crushing guitar licks. Sadville switch it up on their side, playing a crusty southern blend of stoner tunes. I definitely prefer the low, gruff vocal execution versus the high-pitched screaming. Though I did find myself nodding along with the heavy groove of the track, I have to be in the right mood to truly appreciate this style. Also, the extra silkscreened cover with bonus artwork that came with this looks amazing and far surpasses the original. I'm not sure what the story is there...the bass player for Acts of Sedition was kind of enough to hook me up with this copy so I'll have to ask. Anyways, copies should still be available so be sure to cop one of these if you enjoy the tunes!

01. Acts of Sedition - First Wave
02. Acts of Sedition - All Dressed Up With Nowhere to Invade
03. Sadville - God Fuck America in Three Movements

Iron Lung & Shank - Split 12"

The split 12" between Iron Lung and Shank, a joint effort between 625 and Out of Limits released back in 2005. I've posted various material from both bands already, so you probably have a good idea of what you're in for here...if you havn't already. Iron Lung blast through 10 tracks of raw and manic hardcore, taken from the same recording session as their first LP if I'm not mistaken. Shank continue to bludgeon you to death with 8 tracks on their side with heavy hitting guitars, raw speed and harsh vocals. A match made in hell, and a fucking perfect one for that matter.

Over Vert - Gagging & Swallowing Tape

Over Vert are a 4 piece hardcore punk band based out of Reno, Nevada. This is their Gagging & Swallowing EP released last year on Five-Ten Tapes, a record label run by the Acts of Sedition guys. Actually one of two labels run by the band, Five-Ten Tapes focusing solely on releasing tapes as you might infer from the name. Anyways, Over Vert crank out 7 tracks of rocked out and thrashing skate punk...not something I typically jam out to on a regular basis, but I've found myself enjoying this release quite a lot. Not to mention, these guys dish out a cover of Vae Victis' "What We're Made Of" from the Ugly Reflections LP. If you're not familiar with them, they were another awesome hardcore band out of Reno. Do yourself a favor and check out their S/T 12" that was posted awhile back here. The tape version features brand new letter-pressed and hand painted artwork that looks great. These are limited to only 200 copies so if you'd like one hit up the Penguin Suit Records distro and grab a copy, enjoy!

Alarm - Crossrot Tape

Kills You Records has just put out a cassette tape by Tuscon grind/hardcore act Alarm...the same label that brought you the Fan Death tape. I've only included the first 4 tracks however, which were released on their S/T 7" on Inkblot Records also this year. So, if you like what you hear be sure to support all individuals involved and grab a copy here. As I mentioned before, Alarm come barreling out of Tuscon, Arizona and play a mean blend of grind and hardcore. They have played shows with such bands as Punch, Despise You, Lewd Acts and Mammoth Grinder and from what I hear put on a punishing live show. This cassette clocks in at around 21 minutes and side b is one long stoner jam. Only 100 copies available, so act quick if you'd like a copy. Another band out of my area, the great state of Pennsylvania...well, not so great actually but this 7" on the other hand is very much so. Released in 2008 on Give Praise Records, Thrak crank out 16 ragers on this EP, delivering track after track of raw, fast and bludgeoning power-violence. Complain - Make a Mistake 7"

Complain blaze through 7 tracks of ripping fast, 80's style thrash/hardcore on this 7" entitled "Make a Mistake" on 625 Thrash. Complain come out of Hokkaido, Japan...a relatively low populated, northern island area of the country. Thanks to Max for giving these guys some proper and well deserved exposure. Any fan of tight, thrashing hardcore punk with heavy hitting guitars and maniac vocals should thoroughly enjoy this EP. I'm 100% certain copies of these are still floating around, so if you dig these tracks be sure to snag a copy. After all, I only dropped 2 bucks on this record....probably the most rewarding 2 bucks I've spent in awhile. Crossed Out - Discography 12"

I threw up a link to this months ago in a completely irrelevant post, so let's talk about the actual album this time. If you have found your way here, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're familiar with these guys. Their split 5" with Dropdead was posted awhile back along with the West Coast Power Violence and More 7" box set, which featured Crossed Out, Dropdead and Desecration. All of their tracks on those albums can also be found here plus a whole lot more! This 12" spans 4 years (1990-1993) of recordings including their S/T 7", demo/rehearsal recordings and splits with Man is the Bastard and Dropdead. Plus, tracks from the Son Of Bleeaaarrgghh comp and several tracks recorded live at the Che Cafe in San Diego, CA and on KSPC Radio in Claremont, CA. 47 tracks total that I'm not even trying to type out. Enjoy!

Threatener - The Fastening 7"

Here we have Threatener's "The Fastening" 7" on 625 Thrash, released back in 2004. Many months ago I posted the tour version cassette of this release. I can't remember if these are the same recordings or not since it's been a minute since I popped it in, but if so...just consider this a re-up because either way this EP rips! Threatener played insanely fast and thrashing hardcore, putting out a handful of releases before throwing in the towel back in 2005. They released a discography album not too long ago too that I recommend picking up if you have the opportunity. Anyways, 10 tracks total on this 7" of ripping speed and raw production that anyone who has put up with my endless rants on here knows I appreciate.

Deadstare - S/T 7"

Well, I've finally gotten around to preparing the first posts for the month...yea I've been slacking. Thanks to Gallo for picking up my slack. However, I have a pile of shit lying here that I plan to unload throughout the month. November will definitely be the month to thrash, and I intend on providing the arsenal to do so! Anyways, to kick things off here is a crushing 7" by the band Deadstare from Australia, courtesy of Shortfuse Records. Shortfuse has been unleashing tons of great hardcore from the area for years, and this is another fine example. Deadstare rip through 6 tracks of fast and grinding power-violence on this EP. My only complaint about the record is that I wish it were longer. However, if this doesn't give you your fix you may grab their split 7" with Far Left Limit located below. Oh, and their complete discography is available for download via their Myspace so I suppose I just completely wasted your time...too bad.

Deadstare & Far Left Limit - Split 7"

A great split between Deadstare from Sydney, Australia and Far Left Limit from Melbourne, Australia, released back in 2002 on Gash and Deplorable Records. Deadstare start things off with 6 tracks of grinding hardcore on their side of the wax. I've always enjoyed their music a lot, some of the most punishing stuff. They disbanded back in 2003 which is a bummer, but their discography is constantly on rotation. On the other side of the 7", Far Left Limit continue the assault with 5 tracks of raging hardcore punk. Cut Sick! - Fraudulent Little Fuckers 7"

Cut Sick! are/were from Melbourne, Australia and this is their latest and final 7" on Aarght! Records titled Fraudulent Little Fuckers, released this year. Unfortunately they have called it quits, which is a bummer because this band fucking ripped. Cut Sick! played raw and fast thrash/hardcore, and with the 4 ragers on this EP...they have gone out with a bang. If you enjoy these tracks, copies should still be available. Also check out their S/T 7" on Gash Records and the End It All EP on Missing Link.

Drömdead - Donde Esta Tu Dios? 7"

Drömdead come from the city of Caracas, that's Venezuela, and what this 5 piece act plays is raw hardcore punk crawling out from the 80's and by hardcore I mean the one that's been played in the colder part of this world. Yep, this EP is Scandi to the bone...raw, trashy, noisy plus add some Varukers and Discharge to the tracks...I mean, what more can you ask from a raw hc punk band. This is the Donde Esta tu Dios? (Where Is Your God?) EP. 500 copies limited edition on Moo Cow Rec's released this year with 7 hc punk ragers of which one is a Kaaos cover. I also think that I need to mention that the band's guitarist got killed a few months back. Despite that, I think the band is still going to do the Euro tour planned for this year and the upcoming split with Perdition. You can score copies of this anger driven punk release on Moo Cow, where you can also read the MRR review of Drömdead as well as other info on this Venezuelan landmine!! Enjoi DIY punk!!

Stack - Konkret Lichtgeschwindigkeit

Stack are a ferocious and unrelenting thrash/hardcore band based out of Germany, and as promised back when I posted their split 7" with Capitalist Casualties...here is their Konkret Lichtgeschwindigkeit LP. I decided I would step things up a notch and upload the CD version of this release instead, which includes extra tracks from several comps, splits and EP's on top of 17 brand new tracks with amazing production! If you are not familiar with these guys, then here is the ideal opportunity to get acquainted. 44 tracks total, that for obvious reasons I decided to not type out...released on Six Weeks Records. Have fun!

Negative Standards - Demo

Up next we have a demo by the band Negative Standards. These guys are based out of Oakland, CA and play a harsh style of hardcore with a hint of the d-beat. A few of their members also play in Acts of Sedition, another band from the Bay Area worth checking out if you havn't already. The demo includes 4 tracks, which at the moment I do not have titles for, but will update once I hear back from the band. They recently toured the upper east coast and parts of Canada, so if you had the opportunity to see them then you should be well aware of how much this demo rips! Check it out.

Magrudergrind & Sylvester Staline - Split 7"

Magrudergrind from the states and Sylvester Staline from France are two insane bands who have teamed up on this 7", put out by Bones Brigade Records back in 2006. Magrudergrind set the pace with 4 tracks of grinding violence on their side of the wax. Several of their other releases have been posted in the past including their S/T 12", split 7" w/Sanity's Dawn and split 12" w/Shitstorm. Anyways, Sylvester Staline contribute 7 tracks on their side of the split. These guys play ripping fast power-violence, with lyrics that are as amusing to read as their music is fun to listen to. Enjoy!

Container Crusties from Hell - Food Not Bombs Benefit Philipines Tape

Container Crusties from Hell are an international band that consists of band members that come from several different countries. Well these guys come from Holland and France, though I think this is more of a French band since it has been created in a squat in Dijon, France. I think this is their first release put out as a result of their South East Asian tour somewhere around 2000, and this is the tape that I got at the show they did here around 2004 which was pretty good. Dual vocals, one is female that is as brutal as much as it is good. Also the drummer screams from the back just to amplify the whole grind crust sound that this band has. Well maybe not that much, but imagine something between Bettercore and Hiatus yet more powerful than those two. The tape has 12 tracks and was released as an LP also, and you can score the tape on CAH Records. I have no idea if this band is still playing, but I know they did a split with Dutch band Mihoen after this. Enough annoyment from me, play this!!!

97a - Better Off Dead 7"

97a's "Better Off Dead" 7", a joint release between In My Blood and Teamwork Records released back in 1999. 97a were based out of New Jersey and played a style of hardcore punk that was insanely fast, pissed off and punishing, and this EP is nothing short of exactly that. I think these guys regrouped for a little while and released a couple new songs after they had broken up, but I think it's safe to say they are finished...hopefully I am wrong!

Tracks:

01. Crossing

MK-Ultra - Discography 2x12"

MK-Ultra's Discography album has finally been let loose onto the world courtesy of Youth Attack Records. I was really hyped up when I heard this had finally happened, and the end result is much deserving of the wait. MK-Ultra were a fierce and powerful hardcore/power-violence band based out of Chicago, Illinois who formed in the early 90's and continued strong until around 2000, when they decided to call it quits. The Discography is pressed on two LP's and comes housed in deluxe gatefold packaging. Also included is a massive booklet with tons of photos, fliers and info about the band. Last but not least, a digital download ticket so that you may download all of the tracks in high quality including an extra 17 minute live track! MK-Ultra played a reunion show not very long ago in celebration of the release, and if you were able to attend consider me jealous. I believe these are sold out, but another press is surely on the way. Oh, and I decided to not type out the track listing this time because that would just be ridiculous. Enjoy!

Ekkaia - Cuantos Mas Moriremos Hasta Que Esten Satisfechos 7''

It has been awhile since I've posted any Ekkaia material to the blog, and since this is the last of their records I own...this will be the final contribution. This is Ekkaia's "Cuantos Mas Moriremos Hasta Que Esten Satisfechos" 7" released back in 2003, a collaborative release between several different labels. Ekkaia are/were based out of A Coruña, Spain and execute a style of crust/hardcore that is dark and melodic yet raw and aggressive. One of the best screamo/crust/neo-crust/whatever the fuck you want to coin them as, bands who have embraced this style. A killer record and released around the same time as the "Manos Que Estrechan Planes De Muerte Y Sometimiento" LP, which is a classic in the genre. Below are links to the other releases found on the blog. Enjoy!

Nux Vomica - The Uninspired 7"

Nux Vomica were based out of Baltimore, Maryland (currently Portland, Oregon) and have ex and current members of several different bands, including one of my favorites...Wake Up on Fire. This is "The Uninspired" 7", a split release between Firestarter and Torture Garden Picture Company. Nux Vomica play metallic crust and give us 3 tracks total on this record. When I purchased this several years ago I heard them described as Venom meets His Hero Is Gone, which sold me right away besides the relation to Wake Up on Fire. I would have to agree that is a pretty accurate comparison. If you enjoy this, you may also check out their split 7" with Kakistocracy located below and their full-length "A Civilized World".

Kakistocracy & Nux Vomica - Split 7"

This is the split 7" between Kakistocracy and Nux Vomica released sometime last year...a joint effort between To Live a Lie and Humdinger Records. Kakistocracy are an anarcho crust punk outfit from North Carolina who play an aggressive yet melodic style of punk with political lyrics. Their counterparts, Nux Vomica, play a metallic blend of crust originally from Baltimore, Maryland though now based out of Portland, Oregon. Members of Nux Vomica also played in Wake Up on Fire, a sludge/crust outfit from Baltimore. If you'd like, you may check out their S/T 12" here...it's a fucking great listen. Both bands contribute 2 tracks to this split. Kakistocracy's "And So You Spill Your Children's Blood" 7" will be coming up hopefully in the near future.

Tracks:

01. Kakistocracy - Counting the Rings on a Tree Recently Felled

Iron Lung & Lana Dagales - Split 12"

Split 12" between two amazing bands, Iron Lung and Lana Dagales. Both Iron Lung and Lana Dagales are a two-member unit, and musically...these two monsters deliver a style that is jam packed with intensity and precision. Iron Lung contribute 8 tracks total on this split, and are some of the most punishing songs I've heard out of these guys, while Lana Dagales lead us out with 11 tracks of bass driven, grinding violence. You know how after listening to a split release, you try to determine whose side was stronger than the other...well at least I do. However with this record, I couldn't determine shit other than it needed to go on repeat...get into it.

01. Iron Lung - Loss of Breath

Eye Gouge - Demo

Yet another hardcore punk band from Australia, and if you havn't noticed I've been indulging myself with some of the great punk music this continent has to offer. Here we have a demo by the band Eye Gouge who hail from Canberra. Released back in 2007, this demo contains 8 tracks of manic and out of control hardcore including a pretty cool cover of S.O.A.'s "Gonna Hafta Fight". I've recently checked out their "Fast, Pissed Off and Proud" EP, and they have progressively gotten better since the demo...not saying that this still isn't a killer release. I will probably throw up the 7" sometime soon as well so consider yourselves warned. Until then, put this on and hate everything and everyone.

These tracks along with the tracks from their Slow Motion Suicide album have also been re-issued, and may or may not still be available from Common Bond Records...I'm not sure so you'll have to look into it! You may recognize the artistic style of the demo cover which was done up by Rohan of Extortion. Enjoy it!

No Man's Slave - Siege Mentality 7"

A farely new release by the band No Man's Slave, entitled "Siege Mentality" on Give Praise Records. Given their name and the style these dude's embrace, you can tell they listen to a lot of Infest and other bands of the liking. No Man's Slave come out of Oklahoma City, and are one of the few bands I can now claim to have heard from that area. Anyways, I had no prior knowledge of these guys before purchasing this on a whim, but I will now gladly recommend this band to anyone who cares to give a fuck...starting here. Enjoy it!

Stockholm Syndrome - One Way Out 7"

This is Stockholm Syndrome's "One Way Out" EP on 625...which makes sense seeing as how Max played in the band. Stockholm Syndrome have since disbanded and this is the only release they put out in the time they were together. From what I've learned about this record, the tracks on here were taken from the demo they had recorded earlier. Anyways, these guys deliver 6 tracks of killer thrash/hardcore and it's a shame they never had an opportunity to give us more. Tracks 1 and 2 aren't split because they seemed to run together and after taking a closer look in audacity...they really do run together. Feel free to cry about it.

Tracks:

01. One Way Out (Down)

The Swarm - Parasitic Skies 10"

Deja Vu? Well, you could say so. The next two posts feature albums that were part of the All Request Saturday post made several weeks ago. Since I personally enjoy these albums so much, I felt it was neccesary to give them their own spot with the works. So, if you missed out earlier...you're in luck, if not...move along please. First, we have The Swarm's (AKA Knee Deep in the Dead) Parasitic Skies 10" which was released nearly a decade ago on No Idea Records. The Swarm took form after the demise of Left for Dead, and they kept the ball rolling quite well I would say. These guys dish out 9 tracks of fierce and scathing hardcore that will cause your blood to boil. Enjoy!

One of their earlier releases before their sound started to fade into something I could give a shit less about. The Swarm, who I've summed up in the previous post, finish things off with 3 tracks of pissed off hardcore.

Tracks:
